The Welsh Government introduced the National School Categorisation System in 2015 to replace the largely discredited school banding system.

While the NASUWT is clear that the new system provides a more effective means by which the performance of schools can be judged, the Union will continue to monitor the impact of the new system to assess the extent to which it represents an accurate, fair and constructive approach to school accountability.
