The NASUWT is a lay-led trade union and the democratic structure of NASUWT Cymru provides members with the opportunity to have their voice heard - both locally and nationally.

NASUWT Cymru Conference

The NASUWT Cymru Executive Council holds an annual conference during the summer term. The Conference is open to all members as elected delegates from across Wales.

NASUWT Cymru Executive Council

The NASUWT Cymru Executive Council (CEC) is the democratic arm of the Conference. It is the decision-making body of the Union in between the annual conferences and is responsible for the oversight and delivery of conference policy.

The CEC is comprised of all 22 Local Association Secretaries and the Officers Committee, as well as elected delegates from the Associations. Nominations for delegates to CEC are made annually at a Local Association’s AGM.

The CEC has overlapping links with the National Executive Committee via the National Executive Members for Wales being delegates for both bodies and a National Officer attends.

The CEC has two standing committees - the Organising and the Policy Sub-Committees. Membership of these committees is drawn from the CEC.

The CEC alternates between the Wales/Cymru National Centre and the St Asaph Regional Centre and is served by the secretariat of NASUWT Cymru.

NASUWT Cymru Officer Committee

The NASUWT Cymru Officer Committee, more commonly known as the Cymru Officers, is the body of delegates elected to provide executive direction to the NASUWT Cymru Executive Council (CEC).

Subject to the Rules of the Union and the decisions of the CEC, National Executive Committee and NASUWT Annual and Cymru Conferences, the Cymru Officers have full power and authority to take such action as it deems necessary for the conduct of CEC affairs and the realisation of the objects set out in the NASUWT Rules.

The Officers is comprised of the NASUWT Cymru President, Vice-President, Junior Vice-President, Ex-President, Cymru Treasurer and Wales National Executive Members.
