Responding to reports that the Government has accepted the principle that those experiencing the loss of a baby before 24 weeks should be entitled to bereavement leave, NASUWT General Secretary Dr Patrick Roach, said:
“It is a welcome and positive step that Ministers are accepting the principle that those who lose a baby before 24 weeks of pregnancy are entitled to take bereavement leave.
“We will be seeking assurances from the Government that the specific legislative measures to come will allow those who experience pregnancy loss to get the support they need to deal with their bereavement.”
