Ten 10 Downing Street prime minister government

Speaking following the speech of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to the TUC Congress in Brighton, Dr Patrick Roach, General Secretary of NASUWT – The Teachers’ Union, said:

“We welcome the Prime Minister's commitment to working in partnership to rebuild our public services after the legacy of failure over the last 14 years

“Teachers are not looking for gimmicks and quick fixes. They want real and lasting solutions to the deep challenges affecting our schools and colleges - teacher recruitment and retention, high stakes accountability, and crumbling buildings

"The Prime Minister's vision of the need for genuine partnership to deliver national renewal is pivotal.

“A robust and ambitious national workforce plan underpinned by a robust Education Partnership  is essential to solving the recruitment and retention crisis in our schools and colleges, and to ensuring that every child and young person has access to the educational opportunities and entitlements they deserve.”
