NASUWT members can take advantage of a 30-minute free telephone service staffed by experienced advisors who are able to access the latest information and are equipped to advise on any non-employment-related legal issue.
This service is provided for the NASUWT by Thompsons Solicitors.
The service comprises:

a dedicated free phone line;

access to a legally qualified adviser on weekdays between 8.30am to 7.00pm (outside these times or during busy periods, it may be necessary to make an appointment to speak with an advisor);

factsheets on the most frequently raised issues, including debt, neighbour disputes and the Child Maintenance Service.

NASUWT members who are three or more months in arrears with their subscriptions at the time the incident arose are not entitled to casework representation and/or legal assistance and cannot establish entitlement to representation by subsequently paying arrears.
Retired, former, career break and associate members who were in membership at the time the issue arose, and, in the case of former members, providing they have not joined another teacher trade union, are also entitled to representation.
